Counselling & psychotherapy

Coronavirus

I have resumed seeing people in my therapy room, but please also see my notes about Keeping Safe

Who is it for?

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. What I do is help you resolve questions such as:

Space just for you

Faced with these questions, it helps to talk to somebody from outside your circle of family and friends. With counselling and psychotherapy, you can try out your thoughts and feelings in a confidential space. You can explore aspects of relationship with me, with no comeback. I'm trained to listen and understand without judging.

Confidentiality

I take confidentiality very seriously, and do all I can to ensure that anything we discuss is kept private. This is similar to the confidentiality of a medical practitioner.

In addition, it is important to keep the relationship professional at all times, and I am sensitive to the need to do this. So, for example, I expect to have no social contact with those I work with.

For more about me, how I work and my prices, etc., please see “About me”

Health and illness

This is not just about mental health or mental illness — it can be as simple as having a sense of looking for greater fulfilment in your life, of looking to be helped to be all that you can be.

Couples

For couples, therapy offers a chance to explore the relationship between you, and for both to gain a new perspective. See “Therapy for couples” for a bit more about this.

How does it work?

Therapy provides an opportunity to talk about things that you don't often manage to talk about in everyday life. The regular sessions can let you look at thoughts and feelings in a different light, listen to what's going on for you, or practise doing things in a different way.

As a therapist, I don't usually give advice. Instead, we work together to find out what you want to change.

For many people, a major experience of therapy is relief at being listened to without judgement. In sessions with me there is a safe, confidential, space to explore issues that can seem overwhelming when you hold them to yourself.

It can be hard work, sometimes scary, and there are also no guarantees. Yet it can lead to big changes. The first step is to make contact with me.
